A little cat who managed to scale the door of his enclosure at the shelter now has the company of other feline friends and a compassionate individual to ensure he thrives and enjoys life to the fullest.
Indy the kitten, a 10-week-old feline, found himself in a shelter with severe injuries to his hind legs, leaving him in a fragile state. With just skin and bones, Indy was in desperate need of a savior. The shelter’s resources were limited, and they knew Indy required specialized care.
Michelle Fournier, a dedicated foster parent at St. Francis Society Animal Rescue in Florida, stumbled upon a plea for help on social media. Her heart ached for the little kitten, and she knew she had to step in and provide the support he needed.
“I couldn’t ignore the call to help Indy. Despite never having cared for a paralyzed kitten before, I felt confident that I could make a difference and help him thrive,” Michelle expressed to Love Meow.
After scaling the kennel gate, he was all set to head back home, Michelle @indyscoots said. Michelle wasted no time in reaching out to the rescue organization. As they went over his medical history, the shelter closed for the night. Michelle couldn’t stop thinking about Indy and had a hard time falling asleep.
The next morning, Michelle checked her phone and was touched to see a photo of Indy holding onto the bars. The shelter staff clearly adored him, and Michelle believes it’s their caring attitude that helped Indy get through the night.
Michelle picked up Indy from the shelter after seeing the little pup’s determination to go home that day. Watching him climb up the kennel door with just his front legs showed her his sheer will to live. She promised the rescue that she would take care of Indy no matter what, even if he never walked again and always needed assistance.
Indy was overjoyed to feel embraced and secure in Michelle’s arms. On the day she rescued him from the shelter, he immediately nestled close to her, grateful for the safety she provided.
Indy arrived with numerous health problems, requiring multiple medications. With careful attention and treatment, he gradually overcame his stomach issues, his wounds started to heal, and he began to regain his health.
Michelle, also known as @indyscoots on social media, shared that even though Indy may never regain the ability to walk on his hind legs, he doesn’t let it slow him down. He zips around the house with energy and speed, effortlessly climbing whatever he sets his sights on. According to Michelle, his nickname “Indy Scoots” was inspired by his impressive scooting skills, as he can move really quickly despite his physical limitations.
Indy’s strength grew with each passing day, with his cat companions providing loud cheers as he diligently worked on strengthening his hind legs. The household felines welcomed the new addition warmly, forming a special bond with the little scooter cat.
Among them, Flash the cat showed particular affection towards Indy, doting on him with gentle licks and cozy cuddles. The role of a caring big brother came naturally to Flash, who made sure to keep the kitten company whenever he needed a friendly presence.
Flash the cat is a huge fan of IndyMichelle at @indyscoots. According to Michelle, Indy is a total social butterfly who enjoys playing with all his feline buddies. Whether it’s wrestling or chasing around with spring toys in his mouth, Indy is always up for some fun. At just over five months old, he already tips the scales at seven and a half pounds.
Michelle, known as @indyscoots on social media, loves showering her pet Indy with attention. Despite his inability to walk, Indy is making progress every day and continues to grow stronger. While he needs assistance with tasks like going to the bathroom, he never complains about it.
Michelle from @indyscoots describes their beloved kitty as laid-back and affectionate. They have a strong love for Indy and aim to showcase to the world that paralyzed cats are capable of leading a joyful and fulfilling existence.
