Whoopi Goldberg says Beyonce’s Grammy win represents women across America. vannguyen

Whoopi Goldberg has recently addressed criticisms surrounding Beyoncé’s historic win for Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. On a recent episode of “The View,” Goldberg responded to conservative commentator Raymond Arroyo’s remarks on Fox News, where he questioned the legitimacy of Beyoncé’s win and compared her Grammy count to that of artists like Dolly Parton and Frank Sinatra. Arroyo suggested that the voting process lacked credibility, implying that individuals unrelated to the music industry might be influencing the outcomes.

Whoopi Goldberg Startled by Vocal Response From 'The View' Audience

Goldberg refuted these claims by clarifying the Grammy voting process, emphasizing that only industry professionals are eligible to vote. She highlighted that when the Grammys began in 1959, there were only 28 categories, whereas now there are 94, which can account for the differing number of awards artists have received over the years. Goldberg stated, “Listen, man. You can’t do that. She earned it.”

Beyoncé’s album “Cowboy Carter” not only earned her the Best Country Album award but also made her the first Black woman to win Album of the Year since Lauryn Hill in 1999. The album’s lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” topped Billboard’s country chart, marking a significant achievement in her crossover into the country genre.

Beyoncé Finally Wins Album of the Year Grammy With 'Cowboy Carter'

Goldberg’s defense underscores the importance of recognizing and celebrating the evolving landscape of music, where artists like Beyoncé successfully bridge genres and challenge traditional boundaries.
