Another player who could change the dynamics of the bench is Christian Wood. Wood is already a proven player who can contribute significantly off the bench. If he can give the team around 12 points a game, it would help stabilize the second unit. Wood’s versatility, with his ability to play both center and power forward, and his offensive skill set—ranging from shooting threes to posting up—makes him a crucial piece. His presence could relieve some of the offensive burden that currently falls on the young players.

In addition to Wood, the eventual return of Jared Vanderbilt will also be impactful. While not a traditional scorer, Vanderbilt’s athleticism, defensive skills, and ability to create turnovers make him valuable in multiple situations. His contributions will add depth and balance to the bench.

If the bench struggles continue despite these additions, the Lakers might need to explore other options. This could involve moving one of the starters, like Austin Reaves or Rui Hachimura, to the bench to provide more scoring depth. Alternatively, they could consider a trade. While some fans speculate about big-name acquisitions like Zach LaVine or Jeremy Grant, it’s also possible that the Lakers could look for smaller, complementary pieces to bolster the bench.

Regardless, the Lakers don’t need to hit the panic button just yet. The season is young, and with players like Wood and Vanderbilt returning, there’s a good chance the bench will improve.
