5000m runners at the Paris Olympics avoided a near-calamitous moment after a cameraman casually walked onto the track during a race.
The heats for the men’s 5000m took place at the Stade de France on Wednesday morning, but the two races were marred by athletes colliding and falling over.
Team GB star George Mills was left fuming after being tripped and confronted French rival Hugo Hay after eventually crossing the finishing line in the first heat.
But there were even more shocking scenes 10 minutes into the second heat when the leading pack ran around the first turn, only to find a clueless cameraman strolling across the track.
The cameraman seemed blissfully unaware of the runners and had his back turned to them when they ran around him.
Thankfully no one was tripped over, but Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway was visibly livid, gesturing toward the cameraman in frustration.
