I may be a cat person at heart, but with six huskies, a Samoyed dog, and a Northern Inuit dog in my pack, bringing a kitten home just didn’t seem like the safest idea. Still, the desire for a feline companion was strong. So I set out to find a cat that could peacefully coexist with my troop of lovable doggos.
After some searching, I discovered the shocking truth that fur farms were still operating in my country, breeding lynxes for their prized coats. Despite the sadness of such practices, there was a silver lining – it was legal to rescue a lynx cub from these farms and give it a chance at a different life. Without hesitation, I welcomed a tiny lynx cub into my home, saving him from a fate as a fur coat. I named him Geralt, inspired by the noble character Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series.
Follow Geralt’s journey on my social media pages for more updates and heartwarming moments.
It was unexpected how much the dogs pitched in with taking care of Geralt. They entertained the kitten, patiently letting him chew on their ears and snuggle up on their stomachs, all while generously sharing their food with him.
Our older dog Banshee graciously took the baby lynx under her care and protection.
Geralt may have been a mischievous kitten, but he sure knows how to liven up the scene at the huskies’ gatherings.
Plus, he knows one of my horses, Texas quite well!
It was a challenging adventure, but with all my affection and care, I successfully raised and trained him. He’s like a blend of a feline and a canine.
