Sexyy Red Declares ‘We Not Canceling No Tour’ Amid Rumored Low Ticket Sales
Low ticket sales have plagued recent live tours, forcing some artists to cancel. Sexyy Red is committed to not joining the list of people who have had to pull the plug on their concert runs, regardless of the numbers. On X (formerly Twitter), the rapper declared, “We not cancelling no tour.”
Red’s post came in response to a report from a celebrity entertainment news account claiming the Sexyy Red 4 President arena tour was “on the verge” of being cancelled. The report, aggregated from Touring Data, claims that only 37.11 percent of tickets for the tour have been sold, with more than 85,000 remaining.
“My fans are buying tickets,” Red continued in her post. “We’re doin just fine.” The St. Louis rapper is still weeks away from kicking off the run of shows, which she announced on June 26. It will begin on Aug. 22 in Seattle and make stops across North America through October. Hunxho, Loe Shimmy, and BlakeIANA will join as opening acts.
In terms of scale, the Sexyy Red 4 President tour is a massive step up from Red’s previous tour. Last year, she embarked on the Hood Hottest Princess tour, her first ever as a headlining artist. The venues on that run, on average, held less than 3,000 guests. That same year, she performed supporting sets in arenas while on the road with Drake and 21 Savage on the It’s All a Blur tour and with Moneybagg Yo on the Larger Than Life tour.
Red’s attitude towards her assent to fame has largely remained the same. “I never let nobody knock me,” she told Rolling Stone last year. “I do what I do.” Red’s third mixtape, In Sexyy We Trust, arrived in May 2024. She will be performing songs from the release when her tour begins in August, and she trusts that her fans will be there to hear them.
