Dwayne Johnson is one of the most influential names in the pro wrestling industry. His influence, however, doesn’t just come under the purview of the ring among wrestling fans. By virtue of his movie career, Johnson is also a big name in Hollywood. Recent developments have also shown his humane side, where the wrestler-turned-actor has helped out those in need. This has established him as a prominent humanitarian celeb. However, according to one of his former peers in the WWE, the 51-year-old is putting on a facade.
Since his debut in 1996 as Rocky Maivia, Johnson has gone through multiple changes in gimmick during his much-acclaimed run in the WWE. While it lasted only seven years, it was enough for The Great One to cement his legacy as an all-time great. Being blessed with the gift of gab paired with the ability to sell moves, Johnson rose to prominence to become the face of the company during the Attitude Era.
His gimmick was often brash, stopping people midway all the time with clever insults and quick comebacks as the crowds cheered him on. However, this, according to Ahmed Johnson, wasn’t an act put on by The Brahma Bull. As a guest on the <eм>Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling</eм> podcast, Johnson called out Dwayne Johnson as rude.
<eм>“The Rock, he ain’t who he seems to be. He’s not all that smiling and handshaking that people think he is. I’ve seen him be very rude to some of the fans. Very rude,”</eм> he said. The former Intercontinental Champion, who plied his trade in the WWE from 1995 to 1998, said The People’s Champion had a dispute with him regarding the finishing of a match. [h/t: wrestling news]
In Dwayne Johnson’s defense, we could say that this incident occurred in his formative years. Ahmed Johnson and The Rock breathed the same air in the WWE locker room for two years, before the former departed. There could be a chance Dwayne Johnson could correct his attitude, which led to him earning the nickname of The People’s Champion.
Meanwhile, DJ wasn’t the only one Johnson took a shot at. Other WWE legends also came under fire.
Ahmed Johnson names wrestlers he has on his list
Ahmed Johnson name-dropped a bunch of WWE Hall of Famers during the course of the podcast as he recalled the past. He said he has heat with D’Lo Brown and Mark Henry.
Speaking about the rumors about D’Lo Brown beating him, Johnson said it wasn’t true. He added had that been the case, Vince McMahon would have pushed the other wrestler over him. He also said that the rumor started circulating after he left the WWE and only the Nation of Nation of Domination members- Ron Simmons/Faarooq, Kama/Godfather, and Mark Henry seem to have seen it.
The 60-year-old WWE legend said some people were upset with his quick rise as he could win the Intercontinental title in just a year after his debut. However, he named Razor Ramon/Scott Hall as the only wrestler to help him out during his time in the company.
